Nature’s Nursery to host a walk on the wild side

Come celebrate spring and help local wildlife at Nature’s Nursery’s “Walk For Wildlife”. At the Blue Creek Conservation Area. Located at 7790 Schadel Road, Whitehouse, OH 43571

What is it?
An exciting one-mile walk featuring ten stops that
brings you close-up to Ohio wildlife including raptors, reptiles,
small mammals, amphibians, butterflies, fish and more. All ages
are welcome. Walk at your own pace!
When?
Saturday, May 8
, 2010. Rain or Shine. Event check-in is
at 9AM. Walk starts at 10AM.

Help Students Show They Care About Wildlife by Taking a
Walk on the Wild Side!
What is it?
An exciting one-mile trail featuring 8 learning
stations to view Ohio wildlife close-up. Hands-on learning
activities feature raptors, reptiles, small mammals,
amphibians, and aquatic life.
When?
Friday May 7th
, 2010, from 10AM to Noon. Can’t
attend on the 7th? Come out Saturday, May 8, to the Walk
for Wildlife for Individuals and Families. Check-in is at 9
a.m., Walk starts at 10 a.m.

Participants will travel along a one-mile course, stopping along the way for on-going programs and activities at education stations sponsored by Nature’s Nursery and its partner organizations, including the Metroparks of the Toledo Area, Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists, and Lourdes College Life Lab.

“Walk for Wildlife is a unique event that’s ideal for kids and adults alike, since you walk at your own pace,” explains event chairman Denise Gehring. “The various stations along the walking route will offer participants an opportunity to see all kinds of wildlife up close, and to take part in a variety of nature-based activities.”

Walk For Wildlife is a “green” event:

  • Participants are asked to carpool. Parking is limited.
  • It is not necessary to bring throw-away water bottles. Walkers will receive water in a take-home BPA-free 32 oz. water bottle.
  • Participants are welcome to stay and picnic after the event, but are being asked to pack out their trash.

Individuals, families and groups or teams are all invited to participate. Walkers are asked to raise at least $20 in pledges. Contributions are tax-deductible.

The event will be held rain or shine. (In case of severe weather, check this website the morning of the event.)
