Young Turkey Vulture
This was the first year Nature’s Nursery has taken in a baby turkey vulture. We knew that raising young vultures could be very tricky. Vultures are very social and very intelligent, which makes it very difficult to raise them without socializing them to people.
We were very fortunate to also have an adult turkey vulture finishing up its rehabilitation to house with the baby. Oddly enough, at first the youngster was very aggressive with the adult… and the adult was afraid!
The baby grew very quickly and it wasn't long before the two of them were perching high in our flight cage. The two were released together, and both flew beautifully!
