Our new raptor cage project

• The stumps are removed, and the site for this 20' by 20' set of cages has been leveled.
• 9/28/04 The grass seed is planted. The grass should do well since for years this area was home to two goats.
• 9/29/04 Ten ton of stone is spread in the cage area and the work area. We were able to save 38% by getting our stone from Kuhlman Corp.
• The cage foundation base is in place thanks to Jim and Karen Ash, Donald, Nancy, and Thomas Navarre.
• 10/04/04 Lumber has arrived. I got prices from 4 major lumber yards, and found Carter Lumber in Bowling Green had the best price.
• 10/10/04 Four walls are built and nine sheets of barn siding are stained thanks to Emily Anderson, Karen and Lindsay Ash, Nancy, Donna, Donald, Dale, and Ginny Navarre, and Ron and Terry Gerber.
• 10/24/04 Thanks to our hard working team we have made a lot of progress on building walls and preparing the barn siding. Today's team was made up of Ron and Terry Gerber, Emily Anderson, Karen Ash, Thomas, Donna, Donald, Dale, and Ginny Navarre.
• 10/28/04 Today Donald Navarre, Caylene Barnes, and Gill Wilke stained many sheets of barn siding in preparation for our next construction date Sunday.
• 10/31/04 Thanks to the following, Mitch Conn, Tom Ashcraft, Tim Guimond, Karen and Jim Ash, Donald, Nancy, Thomas, and Donna Navarre, and Caylene Barns, we got all the wall sections built and most of them installed. Next we will be building the roof trusses and covering the walls with the barn siding sheets.
• 11/21/04 Karen Ash, Tom Ashcraft, Tim Guimond, and Donald Navarre spent Sunday installing roof trusses and wooden slats. Next we will be finishing the rafters, hanging metal fencing for the see through sides, and putting up wood panels.
• 11/28/04 It was a cold and blustery day, but Tom Ashcraft, Tim Guimond, Dale, and Ginny Navarre. and Donald and Nancy Navarre braved the cold to work on our cage.
• 12/05/04 Most of today's work was top side, installing walkways, roof panels and siding. Karen Ash stapled the chain link in place and touched up the wood stain. The rest of the crew was made up of Tim Guimond, Tom Ashcraft, Donald Navarre, Thomas Navarre, and Anthony Thelemann.
• 12/08/04 The ceiling is up thanks to Dale and Donald Navarre.
• 01/02/05 The doors are hung and I have started installing electrical boxes and wiring.
• 01/20/05 The electrical work continues but it's slow going in this 20 degree weather.
• 02/01/05 The cage is complete and now houses Redtail Hawks and "Ginzu" a Short Eared Owl
